Worst interview.

Yesterday, I reluctantly agreed to go and interview for a "PR Manager" position. The interview was today and went horrible. The company (in a nutshell) tries to get major companies to outsourcing their call centers to India (that's where they are based out of) - which I'm not a big fan of in the first place. Plus, it's never a good sign when the HR manager tells you, "don't be scared when you first walk into the lobby. It may appear as if we can't pay our bills, but we can!" Great.

So, I show up and yes, it did look a little bland and gray. (BTW - the HR person is also the receptionist). I come in and she greets me then I have a seat to wait while she holds an entire conversation with a colleague before beginning my interview. She takes me to a room and continues to talk about the role of the "Marketing/Sales Assistant" position. Whoa, horsey and back up. Sales Assistant - WTF?! I mention to her that "I have been an assistant for almost 3 years and have grown out of that title." She tells me, "We're hoping for someone that's very flexible and can handle being a project manager and assist the sales team." What?

Here's the best part. She finishes with me and I continue to wait, yet again, for the next person to interview me. The guy comes in, very nice, and asks me some questions. He asks me, "How would you get a hotel to come on board with the idea of selling cell phones to their customers?" It was an example question. He then continued with, "Can you write the email you'd send to the hotel on the whiteboard?" WHAT?? "Sure." Suffice to say - I ran out of room on the whiteboard. Next, he had me come up with a spreadsheet, again on the whiteboard, for a "conference" I'd plan that would need to include all major hotels. The spreadsheet needed to be a task/timeline sort of thing. I feel that you get the idea on how the interview went.

To top everything off with a big sweet cherry the HR lady comes back to say, "I'm sorry but the other Directors you needed to meet with have a meeting to go to so I'll need to call you to set up a time to come back." My response: No thanks.
