I went and fulfilled my American duty: I voted.
I have to note something that was a bit disturbing for me. While waiting patiently in line to cast my vote there was a woman standing in front of me to check in and was talking to the poll volunteer about changing her ballot (she had voted absentee but wanted to change her votes there at the polling place). I thought this was a bit disturbing because, well, at that point you are just starting to waste people's time and the county's resources, but, whatever.
This isn't the whole story though: She had a printed out piece of paper in her hand and in big bold letters at the top said - "Pastor's Picks For 2008 Election". So, basically, she wanted to change her ballot to match that of her pastor's. My guess is she cast her absentee ballot a couple of weeks ago, went to church this past Sunday and her pastor tells her that "GOD" wants her to vote THIS way.
Bullshit.
Don't use people, who clearly can't think for themselves, as a vehicle to push your agenda because at that point you're just heading up a cult.
