The 1950's housewife of 2011. I am not.

Instead of ironing socks, scrubbing the tub with old toothbrushes, staying at home with children with no car (the husband has it!) and selling Tupperware moms today are blogging, Tweeting and ordering groceries online. All of this occurred to me while I was trying to not drop peas (in water) onto my laptop while typing next to the stove.  Probably not the best idea, especially since I'd just ruined my iPhone in the sink (see post below).

I participated in a Twitter party (a little late to the party!) hosted by "the world's largest software company" and it was specifically geared toward women with questions such as, "What is your #1 spring cleaning tip?" (The topic was spring cleaning and organizing.)  It was then that I realized moms are the main decision maker on what products to use in the home.  Today, moms have become the marketers (for various, large companies) of products via social networks including forums, blogs, Facebook and Twitter.  Whether it's the diapers and baby wipes they use or the detergent or the milk they buy:  It's the mom making that household decision and it seemed to be true for the 1950's as well by the look of the ad below.

And so, here's my conclusion:  Moms have the power and rule the world.  And, since this is a fact, I'm hoping that Starbucks and Apple (the technology company not the fruit) will ask me to become an ambassador for their companies because that would be awesome.  Think of all  the housework I could get done with copious amounts of caffeine and all the tweeting I could do while folding laundry.

P.S.  I was not paid to mention any company names in this post.
P.P.S.  I was not paid to mention my awesome Apple experience in the post below.
