Physical battle isn't much different than the battle taking place in the mind.

Monday was Memorial Day and I'm extremely grateful to all the soldiers that have fought and died for me to be able to do... anything (even blog).  But, reading this story on CNN.com made me extremely sad because I don't see much difference in fighting a physical battle versus a mentally charged battle.

One fight has visible scars and wounds while the other does not which, I feel makes it more difficult to fight off.  One carries thoughts of honor and valor while the other, the mental fight, carries ideas of weakness and craziness.  I can imagine that they are both difficult, drawn out and exhausting.

To me, there is no difference between these two battles - no difference whatsoever.

Memorial Day for me is remembering all soldiers.

Agreed!

My heart goes out to this family as well as all the others who are unspoken of who deserve recognition for their son's/daughter's courage and sacrifice. A loss is still a loss, no matter how it is dealt.

Thank you for sharing this Marisa!

You are absolutely right! You often hear that someone has lost their battle to cancer but you don't often hear that people lose their battles with depression... It seems to be so much easier to comprehend when the scars are visible...
