dealing with PPD, lots of poop, a very bloody finger on a 4 week old and a call to 911.
The poop: Our son hasn't been pooping everyday. Only once every two to three days which can be normal according to our pediatrician. All of a sudden, Austin has been pooping almost every diaper.
The call to 911 was my husband's idea as he thought I'd actually cut off the entire tip of our son's right ring finger. To be fair though, Neil was at work and I was calling him frantic with Austin screaming in the background as blood was dripping all over his onesie and his entire right hand covered in blood. I began crying because I was sure Austin would die a horrible death due to those damn American Red Cross finger nail clippers that are SUPPOSED to help avoid situations such as this.
According to 911: This call doesn't require fire medics. I'll transfer you to a nurse.
(What I wanted to say) Um, thanks. Yes, I'm a frantic, first-time mom still in my PJ's at 4pm in the afternoon and didn't know what to do so I followed my husband's advice which was based on hearing his son's screaming in the background and me yelling "lots of blood!"
(What I did say) Ok, thanks.
The day has ended - Austin is still alive, we're good. Thank GOD.

What a day you all had!!
I suggest a nail file on their fingernails - much easier to handle until their nails become a little easier to actually cut with a fingernail clipper. And if you do it when they are sleeping, even better and easier.
