I feel as if I'm getting the hang of this new role as full-time mommy. It sometimes feels as if it took me longer get to this place than some of the other mommies I know, but then again, Austin wasn't exactly planned. Actually, he wasn't planned at all and a bit of a shock. A very cute and adorable shock.
Let me tell you, it's a bit scary when you find out that you're knocked up when it wasn't planned. As soon as my eyes met the you're "Pregnant" indicator on the test my brain started to rewind back to just the previous 3 days activities which included:
- 4 glasses of wine
- 1 Jimmy John's sandwich loaded with alfalfa sprouts
- Not taking my multivitamin everyday
- Cleaning out the cats' litter box
- Drinking copious amounts of Starbucks coffee due to not sleeping well at night
- Drinking Diet Coke (a few times a week)
I'm glad Austin ended up being healthy and completely normal. Although, we'll see what affect all those Doritos I ate during my pregnancy will do to him later on in life.
My advice: Use a good form of birth control if you are NOT ready to become a parent because it will most likely be a long, crooked road of adjustment if the pregnancy is not planned.
And, although it was a huge earthquake of a surprise I would not change a thing. Austin is my morning light.

I totally agree. Both of my girls were "whoopsies"
We were using lots of birth control, but apparently I am one fertile momma. So we had to get hubs the snipperoni so that we wouldn't be able to fill the earth.
came here via the bloggess:O)
Also via the bloggess, I have a son named Austin too. Also unplanned. Pretty sure that's what "Austin" means in Greek, or Latin, or whatever.
