Cruel and unusual punishment should not exist for infants.

Well, we tried to "Ferberize" Austin last night. Didn't quite work. He ended up crying so hard he started to hyperventilate. We caved after the 10 minute round.

My mom would not approve of this method. Afterall, this is her precious grandson!

Until he's a little older, we'll stick with the rocking to sleep for 20 minutes.

The "mommy's helper" worked out great today. I handed him all the tasks that I've been putting off which is great. I'm still not sure why a neuroscience (planning to go to medical school) major who's attending one of the best research universities in the country wants to be a mommy's helper. Well, I kind of do. I guess all the high school students took up all the jobs before he could make it back here. Just my luck!

I can't stand to have Griffin cry at night - I tried to let him cry it out once and it lasted 2 minutes, I just don't have it in me. I think they are just too young to understand why they are being left. But knock on wood he's sleeping through the night now - woo hoo! You are doing good with giving him a solid routine. We have followed the same routine for a long time and modified it slightly as he got older. One day I decided to rock him for a minute after he ate and then lay him down awake, but drowsy (before I had rocked in to sleep) and one night he just went to sleep on his own - like magic.

I'm glad you found someone who can help out, it will be nice to have some help during the day and when Neil is away.

That method did not work for us either because it took too long or because my husband had to sleep to go to work. Also when our son started to walk he would jump out of his crib and come to where we were in the house.
