Cloth diapers RULE!

Sitting here waiting for the diapers to finish washing so they can be tossed into the dryer.  I decided to do some math (I'm terrible at math, but I think this was a simple enough equation) to see how many diapers we've saved from being tossed and buried into the earth.

Number of diapers a day  (X)  days of the month =  Y  (X) number of months using cloth diapers = TOTAL

3 X 30 = 90 X 8 = 720 (holy cow that's a lot of garbage!)

Now, 720 is an estimate since there were some days we used more and some less.  We only use cloth diapers when at home, so only about three a day, and when we are out and about we use disposables.  Also, we didn't use cloth diapers in December due to the furnace issue and traveling to Texas for two weeks.  So, it's been (almost) 8 months of total use.

In the age of packaging, throwing-away-everything, and convenience - I'm proud of the fact that we have stuck to it.  I'm also very happy that Scooter was into right away!

Every little bit counts!! Thanks again for sending me the cloth diaper recommendations, the two guys at work having twins really appreciated it!

that is really impressive!!! good job sticking with it!
i didn't even THINK about doing it with Caleb.
now, that i've had 3 in diapers, i wish i would've just invested in them and then used them for all my children!

Way to go! I couldn't do it and James was definitely not having it! We settled for compostable diapers which he refused to use in the compost pile so I just put them in there when he isn't home.
